Google Inc (GOOG) looks to have acquired United Kingdom startup Redux

Google Acquires Redux, a Startup That Integrates Speakers into Smartphone Displays

Bezels could also be cut down or nearly entirely eliminated while retaining a front facing speaker using the display as a speaker.

Redux's technology could be big news for Alphabet's Google Pixel phones. United Kingdom startup Redux had developed a way to use vibrations in a surface - such as a touchscreen display - to emit sound, thus allowing the device to do away with a dedicated speaker, Bloomberg reports.

A spokesperson for Google refused to comment on the price of the acquisition or any further details.

A United Kingdom regulatory filing from December 2017 showed that Google subsidiary Google Ireland Holdings Unlimited Company, bought all the shares of NVF Tech, the parent company of Redux Laboratories. The Pixel 2 in particular had very thick bezels that's very much the same size as its predecessor.

According to multiple sources, Nagy thought highly of Trubisky leading up to last year's National Football League draft. Kansas City won four in a row to close out the regular season before Saturday's collapse against the Titans.

According to its page the company 'developed breakthrough technology which transforms the user experience by bringing surfaces to life with Sound and Touch'.

However, there are knock-on benefits inside the phone, too, which could have other advantages. It could also improve waterproofing for future phones since it eliminates the need for speaker holes.

"The "convergence" of smartphone designs is largely down to a number of fundamental physical restrictions - from the size of the micro-speakers and other components, to the need to cut the front glass for the earpiece speakers, and the practical limitations of where to put buttons", Redux stated in its announcement. It also creates solutions to create so-called haptic feedback, which allows users to carry out different tasks on current smartphones by applying different pressure to the screen. Currently, most implementations of haptics use a short buzz of the notification vibration motor to give a general indication that an on-screen control has been successfully tapped.
