Mark Dalton tweeted Thursday morning that Fitzgerald told Coach Steve Wilks on Wednesday night that he is returning for the 2018 season. Fitzgerald signed a contract extension last season but didn't commit to playing again in 2018.

The Arizona Cardinals are undergoing a rebuild out in the desert, with the team having lost quarterback Carson Palmer and head coach Bruce Arians to retirement.

The 34-year-old Fitzgerald is the Cardinals' franchise leader in almost every statistical receiving category, including receptions, yards and touchdowns.
