The article notes that four days before the 2016 United States election, the Wall Street Journal reported that the National Enquirer's publisher, American Media, Inc., paid $150,000 for exclusive rights to McDougal.

The 46-year-old confirmed a Wall Street Journal report from shortly before the 2016 election that she was paid $150,000 by American Media Inc., the publisher of the National Enquirer, for the account of any affair she had with a "then-married man". The White House claimed the incidents discussed in the document did not happen, with a spokesperson telling The New Yorker that "The President says he never had a relationship with McDougal".

Trump and McDougal reportedly began an affair after the party, which the former Playboy centerfold allegedly "memorialized" in an eight-page letter obtained by Farrow.

Farrow wrote: "As McDougal was getting dressed to leave, Trump did something that surprised her".

According to The New Yorker, Mr Trump met Ms McDougal during a taping of his reality TV show, The Apprentice, at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles. McDougal wrote that Trump impressed her.

McDougal, 46, claims Trump once offered to pay her after they had sex in a private bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel, the location of most of their purported liaisons. "It was so obvious that a Playmate Promotions exec said, "Wow, he was all over you - I think you could be his next wife".

Stormy Daniels, the retired adult film actress at the center of another Trump affair, might soon enough also be revealing details about her own affair with POTUS.

Melania and Donald Trump broke from tradition after a new report about one of the president's alleged affairs. In 1989, the real estate magnate took out newspaper ads calling for the death penalty against five African American and Latino men accused of raping a white woman in New York's Central Park.

The magazine's account of the relationship was based on notes handwritten by the model, Karen McDougal, who was Playboy's 1998 Playmate of the Year.

The former model says she worries what will happen now that she has chose to speak out, but says she was prompted to do so by the emergence of the Daniels revelations and the openness of the #MeToo movement.

McDougal says she is fearful of talking about anything regarding Trump because she does not want to violate that contract and end up being sued.

"[The agreement] took my rights away", McDougal told The New Yorker. (AMI) and its chief David Pecker to protect himself against his affair being leaked to the public. Longtime trump lawyer Michael Cohen admitted earlier this week that he paid Daniels $130,000 just before Election Day in 2016. "McDougal said that confronting illness, and embracing a cause she wanted to speak about, made her feel increasingly conflicted about the moral compromises of silence".

"I never signed an NDA, nor did I take money from him or anyone in his camp for anything, nor did I sell my story to any outlet because that's not what it's about", she said. "I'm afraid to even mention his name".
