If you've ever anxious about shower water pressure, Airbnb Plus will be checking that, too.
"Ten years ago we never dreamed of what Airbnb could become", Airbnb co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky said in a statement. That's a small fraction of the roughly 4.5 million properties listed on Airbnb in 81,000 cities worldwide.
In Chicago, for example, there's a luxury loft near Wrigley Field available on Airbnb Plus for $79 a night. In fact, people thought the idea that strangers would stay in each other's homes was insane. As Airbnb pushes itself to be a community-driven product, it's not surprising that a huge event would show up at a huge venue including those same super-hosts.
Meanwhile, Airbnb now organizes rentals into three categories: Shared Space, Private Room, and Entire Home. "It's just been really, really hard to find". After the update, which will launch in winter, the site will be adding four new property types to help travellers find the right space for their trip, 'Vacation Home, ' 'Unique Space, ' 'B&B, ' and 'Boutique'.
Airbnb is dispatching inspectors to rate thousands of the properties listed on its home-rental service in an effort to reassure travelers they're booking nice places to stay. All 7 property types will launch to guests this summer. In San Francisco, for example, after initially fighting city officials, Airbnb in May agreed to kick hosts off the platform if they didn't register with the city - a practice the company put into place at the beginning of this year.
To combat that, Airbnb is launching Collections, to "connect every guest to their ideal home and meet the needs of such a diverse range of travelers".
Collections for social stays, weddings, honeymoons, group getaways and dinner parties are also planned for later this year.

He tied for second in the league with 77 hits, tied for third with a.412 on-base pct. and ranked fourth with a.321 batting avg. He started all 27 games he pitched and finished the season with a 3.39 ERA, striking out an impressive 9.7 hitters per nine.
Mr. Chesky is also planning to announce new categories on the company's site and telling attendees about another new brand, Beyond by Airbnb, that will be introduced in late spring and that will offer luxury rentals.
Airbnb was founded in 2008 and allows access to everything from apartments and homes to castles and tree houses in more than 65,000 cities and 191 countries.
Under the new system, every "Plus" home would be checked and verified in-person against a 100-point checklist to make sure it reaches a certain standard of quality and cleanliness. If they are selected, the hosts get design consultation and expert photography, and their properties will get top placement on Airbnb's app.
Of Beyond by Airbnb, Chesky told press, "We're combining high-end hospitality and magical experiences with one of the largest travel communities in the world".
Hosts and guests are the heart of Airbnb. The company said in the release that it will soon add new benefits to the Superhost program as well.
The home share platform announced Thursday that it's adding a loyalty program that will treat "its best guests" to "benefits across the entire trip". Visit airbnb.com/superhost to see the full range of benefits. Properties that fail can still be part of Airbnb's regular listings; the company will also offer advice on improvements to qualify.
