In a shocking incident that highlights the extremities of security lapses in public offices, Karnataka Lokayukta, Justice P Vishwanath Shetty was stabbed several times in his chamber in the afternoon today.
Reports suggest that Justice Shetty was stabbed multiple times in the Chest and stomach now in a critical condition was taken to Mallya hospital.
According to preliminary reports, accused identified as Tejas was immediately taken into custody by Vidhana Soudha police. Karnataka Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy is looking into the matter with a hawk's eye.
The Lokayukta is an anti-corruption authority constituted at the state level. Meanwhile, the police have arrested the assailant named Sanjay Sharma for allegedly stabbing the judge thrice with a sharp-edged weapon.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited the hospital. Lokayukta has a gunman. Not all are frisked. He had even given his name and address in the visitor's log book at the premises.
The police are questioning Sharma on the motive for the attack on Shetty.
"He was unhappy that his complaint was not being heard".
"He took this step because of the reason that he was complaining against these contractors and still not getting the tenders.", he added. "It looks like he has attempted murder", he said.

BJP state President BS Yeddyurappa has sought stringent action against the accused and wished for early recovery of Lokayukta.
"This is the first such incident and we are all shocked".
The judge suffered four stab wounds on his torso and shoulder region and one on his left hand, which indicated he had tried to defend himself by raising his hand.
It happens only in Karnataka.
