Naidu rebutted the basic charge of the Centre that Utilization Certificates (UCs) were not provided for the funds released for various schemes and projects including Polavaram multipurpose irrigation project, which is a national project fully funded by the Centre.

He promised to accord special status to the State if his party is voted to power in the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.

He said the decision to pull out minsters were taken for the benefit of the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Special category status means that you get a 90-10 advantage, not 60-40. "Why are they speaking such things?" said a miffed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.

Jaitley said every state in India had the right to same central funds after the 14th Finance Commission revoked special category status for states. "We will decide our next step soon", said Naidu.

Notwithstanding that, Jaitley said that as AP "had suffered" after bifurcation, it needed assistance and the government was ready to provide that.
