Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hates Monday blues in Premier League

Manuel Pellegrini reveals biggest mistake that he made at Manchester City

When can Man City win the Premier League? It could be embarrassing for Manchester United

Manchester City's lackluster display on the day was partly understandable, considering the game was a dead rubber for the Premier League side.

After the match, Guardiola told reporters: "The first half was quite good but in the second half we forgot to attack, we forgot to play".

It is only the second time in the club's history that they've reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, having made the semi-finals in 2016.

With qualification all but secured from the first leg, Guardiola played many of his fringe players - like 34-year-old Yaya Toure and a player half his age, English prodigy Phil Foden - and it showed at times. The second half was really, really poor. "We are new in that position, so we are so happy for that", said Guardiola.

He said: "I don't like to play on Monday because at the weekend everybody is involved and when the weekend is over, they are like "the weekend is over, there are no more games", but we have to play. That means a lot to me", he said (via Blick).

The White House counsel has always walked a fine line in prioritizing the protection of the Oval Office over the person that occupies it.

However, Guardiola had won every other match he had faced on a Monday as a coach before this season, including a 5-0 El Clasico victory over Real Madrid in 2010, when he was in charge at Barcelona.

City looked to have picked up where they left off after last month's 4-0 first-leg win over Basel as Jesus turned home Bernardo Silva's low cross. Even with just a double, however, it feels like Guardiola is on the verge of setting up another footballing dynasty.

"When the opportunity comes for me, I'll do my best and I'm sure that they'll support me".

Guardiola's men have swatted aside literally everyone enroute to what nearly certainly seems like a Premier League title and with the Carabao Cup already wrapped up, the Sky Blues are also looking to extend their domestic dominance on the continent. I think there's a really good spirit there that they want to climb the table, and overall we've only been beaten once in six.

Ironically, Guardiola had a ideal Monday night record before this season.
