Marvel Chief: 'We absolutely' Will Make 'Black Panther' Sequel

But we are learning a bit more about the sequel from Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige. The first installment has officially been in theaters for a month and is days away from crossing the billion-dollar milestone at the worldwide box office, which is pretty fantastic considering that the movie was only tracking for a $120 million opening weekend.

Ryan Coogler's superhero pic has crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, becoming the 33rd film to join the elite club and the 16th Disney title to do so, not adjusted for inflation.

"We absolutely will do that", Feige said of a second "Black Panther" film, though he wouldn't reveal any plot secrets.

The entire cast of Black Panther was outstanding but there were two characters who really stole the scenes: Shuri and Okoye. And Mr. Feige sure makes it sound like Black Panther 2 is a sure thing.

Only four other Marvel movies have grossed over a billion dollars - The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Iron Man 3, and Captain America: Civil War. The report also noted that Disney would not only campaign for "Black Panther" but also for the upcoming film, "Mary Poppins Returns".

That incident came about a week after an explosive device detonated on another ferry, injuring several passengers. A day earlier, a shooting at a music festival in Playa del Carmen left three foreigners and two Mexicans dead.

"Before, the average Korean's perception of black people was not very good, because we learned from our history books that they were slaves", one interviewee commented.

In a new interview with BBC Radio 1 - following his fiery BRITs performance - host Clara Amfo asked Kendrick about the possibility of landing a cameo role in the next Black Panther flick. While he wouldn't go into specifics, he did reveal that Marvel has "ideas and a pretty solid direction" on where they want to take the second movie.

Even though Black Panther was always planned to have his own franchise, in some ways, it's actually the first spin-off movie that Marvel Studios has ever done.
