Miami is known for its party atmosphere, but one nightclub's patrons were shocked when a horse was brought inside, bucking and throwing off the bikini-clad rider.

A video of the freakish incident at Mokai in South Beach was posted on social media and caused both an assortment of horse puns and serious concerns about animal cruelty and safety hazards for clubgoers.

Miami Beach Police tweeted that they had traced the horse and performed a welfare check.

A video went viral Thursday night that showed the woman riding the horse inside the club. "As such, we have launched a joint investigation with [City of Miami Beach] Code Enforcement", the police wrote.

"We are looking at this from all angles now".

Mokai Lounge has not posted anything about the incident at this time, but angry Facebook users continue to let their thoughts be heard on the club's page.

State Department Cautions Travelers Visiting Playa Del Carmen
That incident came about a week after an explosive device detonated on another ferry, injuring several passengers. A day earlier, a shooting at a music festival in Playa del Carmen left three foreigners and two Mexicans dead.

CBS Miami reached club owner, Roman Jones, by phone.

As weird as the incident is, it's not the first time that a horse has been an attraction at a U.S. nightclub.

"I was disgusted and offended that any legitimate businessperson would think this was an appropriate action to take", Morales said. "I am cooperating with the authorities".

"What kind of idiot would do something like this to an animal and endanger people's lives at that club?"

The Mokai Lounge is under investigation for possible animal cruelty and public safety issues after video from the apparent stunt earlier this week surfaced on social media. "I fully support the immediate actions taken by the City Manager and his staff to ensure that this is remedied quickly".
