The suspect in the killing of a Somerset County sheriff's deputy was taken into custody early Saturday afternoon with the handcuffs of the officer he's accused of shooting secured around his wrists.
That camp was where teams hunting by ground and air found him.
The killing set off an intense manhunt that was in its fourth day. Eugene Cole early Wednesday morning in Norridgewock has triggered an intensive search for 29-year-old John Williams in and around the heavily wooded rural community about 60 miles (96 kilometers) west of Bangor.
The 62-year-old veteran of the Maine State Police department was the 25th officer that has died in the line of duty just this year.
Williams was cleared by medics after his arrest, sent to Waterville police for questioning and is expected to spend the next couple of days at Maine Correctional Center in Windham before a court appearance "at the first of the week", Cote said.
Tom Cole said the grieving for his brother can start now that Williams is in custody.
Authorities know Williams' whereabouts leading up to the shooting but are looking for people who may have had contact with him afterward.

Before the arrest, the wife of the slain deputy had implored his killer Saturday to turn himself in, or at least reach out to police.

Williams is wanted in the fatal shooting of Cpl.
More than 200 law enforcement officers from Maine, New Hampshire and MA were involved in the search by land and air.
