Wright, one of the most consistent, best, classiest and popular-in-the-lockerroom players in recent Seahawks history, will now apparently be backed up at weakside linebacker by the player who was the feel-good story of the entire NFL Draft, Shaquem Griffin.

Not only did the Seahawks select Dickson with their fifth-round selection, they traded up to do so. He took over as the starting back a year ago and wowed as a three-down back.

Dickson was the first punter picked in this year's draft, and the first Longhorn specialist to be picked since kicker Jeff Ward in 1987. Dickson left a year of eligibility on the table at Texas. Ateman was considered a good prospect because of his 6-foot-5 stature and the fact he was a second-team All-Big 12 pick with 59 receptions, 1,156 receiving yards and eight touchdowns last season.

Dickson is the only Longhorn to win the Ray Guy Award.

Will Dissly is staying in Seattle.

IGP Re-summoned After Shunning Senate
Saraki said Melaye's ordeal is an attack on the Senate and called on those in authorities to follow the rule of law. He went further to list the names of his family members whom he said had been arrested by the police.

The Minnesota Vikings, in a possible quest to finally find an upgrade over Andrew Sendejo alongside Harrison Smith, could also be among the "at least two" teams Silver cited as making an offer for Thomas.

"We thought he was the best blocker in the draft", Carroll said. While blocking is his strength, Dissly also had 21 receptions and two TDs as a senior. It's the first time the Owls have had players drafted in three straight seasons from 2001-03.

Dissly is the first Washington player drafted by the Seahawks since another tight end, Jerramy Stevens, was selected in the first round in 2002. But this one makes sense as the Seahawks intend to use Tre Flowers at cornerback.

Oklahoma State safety Tre Flowers was selected by the Seattle Seahawks with the ninth pick in the fifth round of the National Football League draft on Saturday, and Flowers' life is changing in more ways than one.

- The Pittsburgh Steelers have traded malcontent wide receiver Martavis Bryant to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for a third-round pick. Seattle indicated this may be the year it takes a QB to develop behind Russell Wilson, the only other QB drafted by the team since 2010. And the Seahawks say they think Penny - who caught 34 passes for 359 yards his final two seasons at San Diego State - can be an everydown back.
