He led the team in rushing in 2018 and was voted onto the Pro Bowl a year ago for the second time.

Ingram violated the league policy on performance enhancing substances. Ingram will be eligible to play October 8 when the Saints play host to the Washington Redskins on "Monday Night Football".

Saints running back Mark Ingram has been suspended for the first four games of the season.

He will be eligible to return in Week 5, missing two home games and two road games.

The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says that Ingram has not been around the team's facility and will not be there for OTA's. He also caught 58 passes for 416 yards and was named to the Pro Bowl while earning NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors in November.

Ingram will miss games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants. He did this alongside Alvin Kamara, who impressed as a rookie with 728 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns, leading the league with 6.1 yards per rush.

The Saints drafted Ingram in the first round, 28th overall, in 2011 out of Alabama.
