Novartis Paid More than $1 Million to Firm Linked to Trump Lawyer

But hiring the president's personal attorney for advice on how to woo Trump would be highly unusual, especially given that Cohen was never formally involved in the campaign or Trump's administration. Cohen scored a one-year, $1.2 million gig from Novartis in exchange for, as a Novartis employee put it, "access to not just Trump, but also the circle around him".

Several businesses hired Cohen as a consultant and paid money to Essential Consultants, the company that paid $130,000 in hush money to Daniels, an adult film star, the records revealed. Often, they provide information about the inner-workings of an important government office, such as the White House and leadership in Congress.

Avenatti has repeatedly called for SARs relating to Cohen to be released.

Initially, Michael Cohen meant to pay Stephanie Clifford, professionally known as Stormy Daniels, through another DE entity - Resolution Consultants LLC.

Cohen has told associates that Avenatti's claims are overheated, and he has maintained that he has not done anything wrong, according to a person familiar with the attorney's views but not authorized to speak publicly about private conversations.

Drug giant Novartis AG said Wednesday that it had paid Cohen, Trump's legal "fixer", more than a million dollars for what it called advice on "how the Trump administration might approach certain US health-care policy matters, including the Affordable Care Act".

A non-partisan Washington ethics group is calling on the Department of Justice and Congress to investigate whether President Donald Trump's longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, should have registered as a lobbyist and filed additional papers to show lobbying work with foreign clients, ABC News has learned.

The form factor looks something like a Chromecast, but the bundled remote suggests it won't rely on a phone to do your streaming. It is supposed to be a platform that will power Google's smart home devices, right from thermostats to smart home speakers.

Some of the companies that engaged Cohen also had contact with Trump personally. And there are some interesting people doing business with Michael Cohen.

The U.S. Treasury Department's inspector general's office said it had opened an investigation into whether confidential banking records involving Cohen may have been leaked. A lawyer for Columbus Nova, in a statement Tuesday, described the money as a consulting fee that had nothing to do with Mr. Vekselberg.

Avenatti, who has not disclosed where he got his information or released any documents, declined to comment on the probe.

Bank records of the company payments to Cohen's firm and payments from Columbus Nova LLC, a New York-based investment firm linked to Russian businessman Viktor Vekselberg should be released, Avenatti said in the interviews.

Vekselberg was targeted for USA sanctions by the Trump administration last month.

But Novartis said that following a meeting in March 2017 it "determined that Michael Cohen and Essential Consultants would be unable to provide the services that Novartis had anticipated related to USA healthcare policy matters and the decision was taken not to engage further". In total, he alleged, more than $4 million passed through the account in 2017 and early this year, including payments from entities associated with major companies such as AT&T and the drug company Novartis.
