The 29-year-old football coach and former college defensive lineman reacted nearly immediately, running at the teen and tackling him to the ground as he told students to dial 911.
He also applauded the student shot in the incident, Ella Whistler, saying he was proud of her. Jason Seaman spoke publicly for the first time since the Noblesville shooting Friday, thanking the IN community for support, praising a 13-year-old who was also shot and urging everyone to think about her as she recovers.
An Indiana science teacher has been released from a hospital a day after he was shot while tackling an armed student inside his classroom.
If not for his Seaman's heroics, one student told reporters, "more of us could have been injured, for sure".
Police have said the shooter was quickly arrested following the shooting and didn't appear to be injured.

For the first time since the shooting, classes will resume Tuesday at district schools except for Noblesville West Middle School. Ethan said he never thought a school shooting "would somehow get that close to you". Seaman's wife, Colette Seaman, provided an initial statement to ABC News on behalf of her husband: "First of all, thank you to the first responders from Noblesville and Fishers for their immediate action and care". In 2018 alone, there have already been 17 shootings - the highest number during any year since at least 1999, according to a Washington Post database that tracks such attacks.
