Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg is the latest person in President Trump's orbit to have been granted immunity in the investigation surrounding payments made to women who alleged that they had affairs with Trump.

An attorney for Cohen didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
In a separate development, the NY attorney general is moving to open a state criminal tax investigation into Cohen.

Cohen failed to report more than $4 million in income, according to the criminal information filed against him, resulting in his avoidance of more than $1.4 million in taxes he would have owed the Internal Revenue Service.

The Manafort charges stem nearly completely from his personal businesses but they came to light after he went to work for Trump.
The new charges would center around whether the Trump Organization falsified the representation of the payment made to Daniels. This practice resulted in an illegal 2016 campaign contribution consisting of a $130,000 payoff to Stormy Daniels, an adult-film star alleging an affair with Trump.
Allies wonder what Trump might do if the pressure continues to increase. A co-operation deal between Weisselberg and prosecutors could be damaging to the president given the executive's longtime role in Trump's business affairs.
