Apple quietly discontinues four older versions of iPhone

Apple No Longer Bundles 3.5mm Audio Dongle With New iPhones

Apple slashes prices of older phones in India, iPhone 6S now starts at Rs 29,900

Apple has officially lifted the curtain on the new set of iPhones coming in 2018.

Removing the 3.5mm audio dongle means that users of the new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR will either have to use Bluetooth earphones, or headphones with Lightning connectors to be able to listen to music (or watch videos) in private. "Background reading will work with any NDEF formatted tag", according to the Apple developer portal.

Apple's new lineup includes the iPhone Xs Max, Xs and Xr, as well as older models like iPhone 8/8 Plus and the 7/7 Plus. Third-party developers are expected to take advantage of this addition and possibly add creative solutions to their apps and website experience on the iPhone.

Not only did Apple discontinue last year's iPhone X, it also got rid of the older (and smaller) iPhone SE and iPhone 6s, two of Apple's cheapest devices, and the last ones supporting the upcoming iOS 12 software update.

What about the iPhone 6 and iPhone SE?

IPhone Xr, iPhone Xs And iPhone Xs Plus Might Surface This Wednesday
Apple is expected to launch an upgraded iPhone X this year, as well as a smaller and larger device . This is not the first time that these names have appeared on the interwebs.

On the iPhone Upgrade Program the XS Max is $54.08 a month for 64 GB, $60.03 a month for 256 GB, and $68.66 a month for 512 GB.

Moreover, the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will support Dolby Vision alongside traditional HDR10 - two types of HDR formats that will make binge-watching your favourite shows even better.

Colorful identity: If you want your iPhone XS to be any color than gold, silver or black-grey, you'll have to buy a case. The iPhone 8 Plus, on the other hand, will sell at Rs 69,900 for the 64GB variant and Rs ₹84,900 for the 256GB variant.

The A11 Bionic chipset in the iPhone X performed impressively against the competition, and the A12 Bionic is even more powerful. The company said the new iPhones would start at USD 750, USD 1,000 and USD 1,100. iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be available for pre-order beginning Friday, September 14 and in stores beginning Friday, September 21. Gareth notes that the industry were expecting this model to be delayed slightly, releasing after the iPhone XS, so a concurrent release is most welcome. For most customers, the compromises (LCD rather than OLED display, one camera instead of two, aluminum edge instead of stainless steel) won't matter almost as much as the $250 savings.
