Timberwolves guard Derrick Rose has been on the court for three of the most gruesome National Basketball Association leg injuries, the most recent being the leg injury Nets guard Caris LeVert suffered Monday night against Minnesota. The 24-year-old guard has emerged as their go-to player, the foundation of their rebuild, and had been garnering early All-Star buzz.
The injury occurred just before halftime when LeVert attempted to block Minnesota guard Josh Okogie's shot as he drove to the basket. He was taken off the court on a stretcher with some teammates in tears. Brooklyn took a chance on him early when every other team had their reservations, and LeVert was finally becoming the player they had hoped he would become this season.
"Fortunately, tests performed this morning revealed that there are no fractures and only moderate ligament damage", Nets team orthopedist Dr. Martin O'Malley said in a statement. LeVert had already been showing signs of a massive improvement, averaging 18.4 points per game to start the season.
The Queen extends rare invite to Meghan Markle's mother
The 74-year-old former lighting director has courted controversy over multiple interviews he has given over Meghan and the royals. The Middletons have spent Christmas with the royal family but resided in the neighboring country house Anmer Hall instead.
LeVert is no stranger to health adversity - his junior and senior years at MI were ended prematurely by injuries. He leads the Nets in points per game at 19, shooting 54.1% from the field.
It now looks like the Nets will be without MI product for the remainder of the season.
